Module 7 – Have a Back Up Plan!

Objective:  Understands what to do when something doesn't work right in the online school. 

INTRODUCTION

With technology, something always goes wrong, so it is important that you have a back up plan!  Remember, you can always save the online lessons to your computer, copy and paste lessons into word documents or print out the lessons.

• What will you do if your computer does not work?
• Where will you save your documents so you can retrieve them if something doesn't get posted online?
• How will you make sure you turn in your assignments on time?
• What will you do if you come to an assignment that you don't know how to do?  Who will you turn to for help?  (Remember the 15 minute rule?) 

In the Clovis Online School, we have put together some things online to help you with some of the above problems.  Read more below.

Wikis are places online that allow people to make web pages.  All of the Clovis Online School courses are built on wikis that are available for others to use. 

If  Moodle is not working, the content can always be found on our wiki.

Blogs are public online journal of thoughts or events.  For our school, this is the place where teachers are posting daily instructions and assignments. 

Every student and their parent should be looking at teacher blogs every day (remember, you can subscribe to the blog through iGoogle).

INSTRUCTION

For this series of lessons, you’ll need to view and bookmark each website so you will be better informed of current events happening at COS.

• Has seen and bookmarked the Clovis Online School blog for ongoing school information: http://clovisonlineschool.wordpress.com
• Knows how to complete the daily attendance calendar.
• Parent verification form completed and signed.
• Final Evaluation and Reflection
  

Upon completion of the final module, be prepared to show your instructor that you have met all competencies.

ASSIGNMENTS

• 7.01- Has seen and bookmarked the Clovis Online School wiki for back up course content.  Date and time you viewed this.
  
• 7.02- Has seen and bookmarked the Clovis Online School blog for ongoing school information.  Screen shot of how you have done this on your home computer. 
  
• 7.03- Knows how to complete the daily attendance calendar.  Upload your attendance calendar with hours listed up to today (Do not need a parent signature for this version).
  
• 7.04- Parent verification form completed and signed.  Date and time this was completed
  
• 7.05 - Final evaluation and reflection
